Fu Congbing, the academician of CAS Atmospheric Physics Institute, was invited to the state key laboratory recently to make a report on "the MAIRS of ESSP " project. The MAIRS is a pioneering scientific program on the earth system, which focuses on the coupling effect of human activity and environmental system in Asian monsoon region. His innovative and informative report received warm welcome from the audience.
Fu Zongbin is a climatologist, currently acting as the director of Eastern Asia Research Center of the international START global change program. He is one of the chair scientists in a 973 project (i.e. “the prediction of the trend of aridity in northern China and the evolution of living environment in the future of China”). He is one of the first Chinese scientists who started the pioneering work on the global climate changes, and has made creative achievements in the research on the interaction between tropical ocean and atmosphere, the interaction between the monsoon climate and ecosystems, and the regional responses to climate abrupt changes and global changes.
Professor Ren Liliang, deputy director of LHWHE and dean of Water and Environment College, presided the seminar, and teachers and students from LHWHE and the Water and Environment College participated in the seminar.
