On Nov, 6^th, 2006, a seminar was held in the State Key Laboratory of Hydrology-Water Resources And Hydraulic Engineering, for celebrating the 91th anniversary of Hohai University. Prof. Peng Shizhang, Director of State Key Laboratory, made a report on "the water saving transformation technique integration and demonstration in Large irrigation area (southern irrigation area) ",The report combined with the application status of key project in the Eleven-Five state key technological planning item “ Key support technologic research of water saving transformation projects in large agricultural irrigation area", introduced the main characteristics of irrigated areas in South China, the main research content as well as key techniques, etc. This report had great significance on the later applicants and has attracted great interest among teachers and students. Two Professional researchers of State Key Laboratory, Doctor Guo Longzhu and Doctor Luo Yufeng also made reports separately on the topics of “water saving irrigation partition model research based on ArcGIS and Geographical statistics” and "agricultural water saving scale effects".
