The ceremony of appointing Prof. Ma Peony as the guest researcher of the Hydro-Lab took place on July 23. Prof. Ma is a professor of The School of Marine Science of the Virginia Institute of Marine Science of The College of William & Mary in the United States. He got his PhD title in University of Florida in 1986, and has been engaged in researching and teaching in The School of Marine Science since 1987. His major research interest is in estuarine, coastal and marine engineering issues. He has published tens of research papers in international prestigious journals.
Prof. Ma is the first guest researcher in the Hydro-Lab since the Guest Researcher Policy is put into effect early this year. He will work in the Hydro-Lab for four months, leading the coperation between the Hydro-Lab and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science. During his stay in Hydro-Lab, he will also hold seminars on integrated management of estuary and coastal zones, and give a course on estuarine and coastal dynamics for PhD students in Hohai University.
