The national agricultural water saving technology exchange conference and the first agricultural water-saving technology award conference was held in Hohai University on April 26. Over 300 experts came from the Ministry of Water Resources, research institutes and universities attended the conference, exchanging their expertise about agricultural water saving research and agricultural water saving technology demonstration. The Hydro-Lab co-organized this conference. The research on "rice water saving irrigation theory and control mode innovation and application" conducted by the team led by Professor PengShizhang won the first prize

       Prof. Peng’s research team focus its research on paddy field water saving irrigation theory and control method, having conducted their studies for the physiological and ecological response to irrigation water regulation, rice water requirement process and environmental effect of water saving irrigation in rice paddies for more than 10 years. The team established the rice water regulation technology index system, and developed water control method with high water saving efficiency and effective emissions reduction, which enriched the rice water saving irrigation theory and technology. Their results are recognized as having caught up with advanced international level in general, and the water control index based on the physiological ecology of rice and water control methods for water-saving irrigation in paddy fields are at world leading position.
