On November 18, 2016, Academician Chen Fahu of Chinese Academy of Sciences paid a visit to the State Key Laboratory of Hydrology-Water Resources and Hydraulic Engineering (Hydro-Lab), and gave a report on the history and driving force of the prehistoric human permanent settlement in the Tibetan Plateau. Besides, the vice-president of Hohai University, Professor Zhu Yuelong hosted the lecture.

The report mainly focused on the history of human evolution and migration, the time when human started to settle in the Tibetan Plateau, as well as the driving force of agricultural development. Academician Chen Fahu applied the knowledge and evidence of paleoclimatology, archaeology and so on, to give a comprehensive and vivid interpretation of the speculation that human settled in the Tibetan Plateau about 3600 years ago, which aroused great interest of the audience including the academic leaders, fixed-term researchers and graduates from the Hydro-Lab.
