Recently, the Ministry of Water Resources of the People’s Republic of China issued a notice about adjusting members of the China Committee of the International Hydrological Programme, UNESCO. The director of the Bureau of Hydrology, Mr. Cai Jianyuan, served as the chairman. Academician Zhang Jianyun and Professor Yu Zhongbo of the State Key Laboratory of Hydrology-Water Resources and Hydraulic Engineering (Hydro-Lab) were appointed as the vice chairmen.
The China Committee of the International Hydrological Programme, UNESCO, is the standing organization for China to implement the international hydrological programmes of the UNESCO, which was established in 1979. On behalf of our country, it plays the role of organizing activities including aspects of education, science and so on, mainly in the fields of hydrology and water resources. Besides, the International Hydrological Programme (IHP) belongs to one of the most significant international cooperation plans in the field of water science.
