Recently, the Chinese Ministry of Education has released the list of the 2016 Cheung Kong Scholars Programme of China, including Professor Wang Huimin and Professor Zheng Jinhai of the State Key Laboratory of Hydrology-Water Resources and Hydraulic Engineering (Hydro-Lab).

Professor Wang Huimin has put a longstanding effort in the research on the management of water resources and risk control. Besides, she has hosted and participated in more than 30 major programs of National Natural Science Foundation of China, published 6 books and 165 academic papers as well. Moreover, Professor Zheng Jinhai has committed to long-term study on the basic theories and simulation methods of dynamics of estuary and coastal regions. In addition to the 112 academic papers published, he has also presided and taken part in over 30 scientific research projects such as the 973 Program, National Natural Science Funds for Distinguished Young Scholar, Projects of International Cooperation and Exchanges NSFC, etc.

The Cheung Kong Scholars Programme of China was started in 2011 by the Chinese Ministry of Education, aiming to boost the development of high-level talents in universities and attract a group of leading talents with international influence. The successful selection of Professor Wang Huimin and Professor Zheng Jinhai again embodied the remarkable accomplishment of the advanced talents team construction of the Hydro-Lab.
